With temperatures soaring it’s hard not to think about anything other than that perfect summer getaway where you can relax and literally let your troubles melt away. Here in Texas we like everything to be bigger and bolder. Whether we decide to take a spontaneous late evening trip out to the lake or take a extended weekend to head out to the ranch and skeet shoot. No matter where I go I never leave my Yeti behind. Who knows how long we’ll be out or what kind of temperatures we will run into, but I know my Yeti can handle it. My personal favorite is the 30oz Seafoam Yeti. It’s such a beautiful color and great for Texas summers. If you haven’t seen the new Yeti Ramblers be sure to check them out on our site!
The Real MVP
For all the corny jokes and lame punchlines, Father’s Day is the one day where we must laugh and endure the embarrassing moments no matter how extreme. Dad’s try to be cool all year round but lets face it, dads will be dads and we have to suffer through it all. Well maybe that’s what we get for gifting them lame ties and socks previous years; good thing this year was different. Can’t beat the excitement dad felt when he opened up his gift to something he really wanted like a Yeti cooler or a pair of brand new Tony Lama boots. Despite a lame joke or two, our dads have never let us down and good thing we didn’t let them down this year with our Father’s Day gifts. As we look forward to the rest of the week and wishing it was weekend already, one thing for certain is that whatever cool gifts dad got this year, you’ll be using them first.
Pick your Sole
Ever wonder what the difference between a leather sole and rubber sole is? It’s easy, one is made out of leather, and the other…. Well, out of rubber. But what does this mean for you when you’re trying to pick out the perfect pair of boots? It really only means one thing; preference. Leather soles although mostly traditional in most boots aren’t the best when it comes to traction on pavement or flooring. This is because leather tends to be smooth in nature, causing it to slip easily. Rubber on the other hand has great traction and is way more comfortable than leather soles. There will however be that 1% of folks that will beg to differ and suggest that leather soles are more comfortable, but I can assure you that’s just not the case. The real difference is preference. This is because leather soles are intended for those that wear boots for work and the outdoors. They perform and will keep you going way longer than leather. But wearing rubber soles to an elegant wedding or formal even is just a big no no. That’s like putting all-terrain tires on your dad’s Cadillac. This is where the traditional sense of leather soles comes in to play. Leather soles are simply more fit for the occasion. So when picking between leather and rubber when deciding on your next pair of boots follow our advice, Pick both! That’s really the only way to go.
P.S , if you ever meet someone who wears nothing but leather soles, hand them a callus brush. They need it..

The pride and love we share for our country is shown year round, but it’s not ever shown as much as when the Olympics come around. Day after day, our nation is divided on important topics, such as religion or politics, but this is the time when we truly come together as one. This year, the Olympics are held in Rio, but back in our homeland, another kind of Olympics are being held. Where the champions receive shiny belt buckles instead of shiny medals. Where trainers and coaches are replaced by the best riders in the world, ready to teach the craft to the next generations of winners. Where hours of training are done on open land or ranches, instead of world class gyms. The Olympics are only held every 4 years, but rodeos are year round, and it’s in this season where our communities truly come together. We set our differences aside to root for the amazing men and women with the talent and dedication to not only get them as far as competing in these games, but to win and make our country proud, just as we do for the Olympics. We put our hand over our heart, and show our allegiance to the flag, the very same flag carried so proudly at the opening ceremonies in Rio. So whether you choose to be a spectator of the Olympic Games, the rodeo back home, or both, there’s no argument the amount of pride we feel in the athletes who represent our country, whether that’s hundreds of miles away or in our own backyard.
Summer in a Sundress
We’re right in the middle of Summer and the temperatures seem to be rising more and more every day.
Sundresses are the perfect thing to wear when you need to keep cool and look good too. Just one article
of clothing can be our entire outfit, and there’s just something about sundresses that make us want to wear
them comfortably all day and show off our sun kissed skin.
One of my personal favorites this season is this Coast to Coast Shift Dress by Miss Me. It’s something I
can see myself wearing over my bathing suit while at the beach, or matching it with a pair of gold sandals
and heading out for brunch on a Sunday morning.
The hem has a unique scalloped lace design I’ve never really seen before and the lace-up bodice with tassled
ties give it a little flair. The dress is short enough that I can wear it all day without my legs feeling
uncomfortably sweaty, but not so short as to get dirty looks from strangers. The fact that it’s sleeveless
will help with the heat and humidity as well.
And yes, it is white, but Labor Day isn’t until September 5th this year so get yours before then!
Booties are everywhere. No, we don’t mean the Jennifer Lopez or Nicki Minaj kind of booties, we’re talking
about the ones you wear on your feet.
The Robyn by Lucchese are brand new and I can’t think of anything I don’t like about them. Lucchese
are known to be one of the top names in boot making. Every pair is handcrafted, and you can tell when you put them on.
The leather cushioned insoles will literally make you feel like you’re walking on air when you slip them on. I don’t know
about you, but some of my heels are so uncomfortable, I want to burn them in the first ten minutes.
I was in these for a little over an hour to use them for photos such as this one right here, and it didn’t even feel
like five minutes.
We’ve discussed in earlier blogs about how fringe and Boho chic fashion is reigning supreme right now, and these boots happen
to have a little bit of both. Leather strips of fringe hang on the outer side of each boot along with a leather, hand-tooled feather.
That won’t be the only feather you find though. In fact, the entire print design on the boot mimics the black and brown feathers of a sparrow.
And the thing about booties is, you can literally wear them with everything. You can add them to a Summer dress to give it a Fall look, wear them with
shorts or a short skirt for then it’s still hot outside, fold up your jeans so that your ankle just barely peeks out, or wear them over leggings and skinny jeans
and a cute top.
So if you’re on the hunt for the perfect Fall booties, get them while you can right here at The Boot Jack.
The definition of the word “swagger” seems to have changed somewhat with a little help of today’s pop music and swagger is definitely not what it used to be.
From materialistic things, to flashy outfits or anyone who wears baggy jeans, the word swagger has been thrown around so often, it’s hard to know if you even want to have swagger anymore.
Country swagger truly stands apart from the rest. Someone with country swagger knows where they’re from and where they’re headed to next. They’re confident in their life and the decisions they make. They have an air about them, and when you’re in the vicinity of someone who happens to have it, you just know.
You feel it.
Country swagger has the kind of attitude to make you want to succeed, and try again if you fail.
It’s the style you have, which is not just about the clothes you wear, but the way you wear it.
It’s being able to walk into a room and have all eyes on you, without you saying a word.
It’s the self-confidence you have in yourself, and the aura that surrounds you.
All these qualities combined create the very concept of what swagger is, or at least, what it should be.
So it makes you ask yourself; Do you have country swagger?
You could say I wasn’t exactly “country” when I bought my first pair of boots. I was leaving home to Austin, Texas for college and got a pair just because I knew everyone else would have some. I don’t think I understood then what these boots were going to mean to me.
These boots have seen my cheer the Texas Longhorns to victory, and seen me with my head down when we lost.
They’ve seen unbelievable country concerts, everything Luke Bryan to the King, George Strait.
They’ve seen me two steppin’ across my favorite dance floor, and seen me walking along 6th street.
Boots are usually a good investment, and for good reason; they’ll last for years. My boots are going into their 6th year now, and they’ve got plenty of time left in them to make some more memories, and that’s why I got them in the first place.
But the memories I have with my boots won’t be the same as you with yours. Every pair of boots have a different meaning.
Maybe you have a torn, rugged, pair of boots means which means you work hard for a living, and that makes you proud.
Maybe you have boots with lots of crystals and rhinestones and that means you probably like the finer things in life.
Maybe you’re a first time father, and you have a pair of matching boots with your son, which means family is very important to you.
So ask yourself, what do your boots mean to you?
